Wooden Grain Stomper
The complex ecology of Loziland’ s agriculture produced some of these remarkable mortars which were for pounding grain and maize.
These striking antique Lozi Mortars can be used as stools or tables when inverted but have their origins as the traditional kitchen implement used to pound grain, maize and legumes for flour.
These mortars are made from hardwood and are carved by hand in Zambia.
Lozi mortars are known for their intricate geometric carvings.
